Home for Christmas: Concert by Voce Chamber Singers

The following was sent to us by Elliot Wicks:

Music and Christmas are inseparable, as Voce’s Christmas concerts demonstrate year after year. The choice of music for Christmas is endless; Voce has tried its best to do it all! This year, we draw music from past Christmas concerts, especially a cappella gems. As always, the audience will be invited to sing with us. Familiar carols will be heard and sung, as will contemporary songs like Jim Brickman’s Coming Home for Christmas and Faith Hill’s Where are you Christmas? Classical Christmas works on the program include O Magnum Mysterium by de Victoria, On this Starry Night by Matthew Harris, and the hauntingly beautiful Ave Maria by Biebl.

Arrowbrook Park Helps Meet Growing Need for Athletic Fields

From Fairfax County Park Authority:

Local officials gathered with members of the Fairfax County Park Authority Board, youth sports representatives, and others on Saturday, November 13, 2010, to mark the official opening of Arrowbrook Park. Numerous speakers reflected on how cooperation, persistence, and partnerships can accomplish great things for the community.

The 23-acre park, part of the planned Arrowbrook Centre mixed-use development, was proffered to the Park Authority in 2005.  The centerpiece of Arrowbrook Park is a state-of-the art, lighted, synthetic-turf athletic field.  But the park also includes a creative playground, two lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, a field-sized picnic pavilion, along with the Park Authority’s first bocce court.

Scouts Work to Help Feed the Hungry Fairfax County Church to be One Beneficiary

The following was sent to us by Creg Smith:

Scouts from the National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, have joined forces again this month to create one of the largest food collections in the DC metro area. This food drive will help stock the shelves at food pantries across their area. "Food collected will stay in communities and help neighbors in need like the food pantry of Community of Faith United Methodist Church in Franklin Farm", according to Rory Maynard, Scout liaison for the church.

Scouting for Food (SFF) is a food solicitation and collection campaign run by the Boy Scouts of America every year since 1988. SFF is considered the largest food solicitation and collection campaign in the Washington metropolitan area. Community of Faith United Methodist Church in Franklin Farm, Herndon, Virginia, is again one of the key collection and distribution centers.
