Child Passenger Saftey Week

This was sent to us by the Herndon Police Department:

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children age 3 to 6 and 8 to 14. That’s why the Herndon Police Department is urging all parents and caregivers to attend the “National Seat Check Saturday” event on September 25, 2010.  As part of Child Passenger Safety Week (September 19-25, 2010)

The Herndon Police Department will have certified technicians available to provide on-site child safety seat inspections and education from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 494 Elden Street (K-Mart Shopping Center) and 2:00 – 5:00 pm at 1086 Elden Street (Dulles Park Shopping Center).

Road Paving in Progress

Work on the annual asphalt repaving project began on Monday. The repaving project is aimed to improve the safety of the streets of Herndon.

Herndon residents should be aware of alternate routes during the paving to avoid delays. While notices will be posted door-to-door, you can call 703-435-6860, the Herndon Maintenance Facility, Public Works, for more information.

Paving on Van Buren Street between Elden and Monrore streets and northbound lanes from the intersection of Spring and Van Buren streets to the W&OD trail are in the course of planning.
